Khan Academy is founded by Salman Khan, an educator graduate from MIT and Harvard, with the single motto of : "Free world-class education for anyone anywhere ", the service which started as an online remote tutoring has expanded to one of the largest MOOC, Khan Academy is backed by Bill Gates foundation and Google, and receives support from the MOOC community to further develop it's offerings, 
Khan Academy is the only MOOC that offer a high number of courses in multiple languages including but not limited to : French, Turkish, German, Spanish, Arabic, Italian and much more, the education experience is offered via an enormous video library with over 4300 videos in various topics, automated exercises generated depending on skill and level, and a peer-to-peer tutoring system,

The library content include in addition to Math, Sciences, Economics and Finance, and Humanities , a Partner content from Stanford and MIT. Instead of certificates, Khan Academy introduces the concept of bagdes, there are six of them, 

• Meteorite Badges-These badges are easy to earn and come with small energy point awards.
• Moon Badges-These badges are harder to earn and have larger energy point awards
• Earth Badges-These badges are harder than moon badges but some are still easy to earn.
• Sun Badges-These Badges are harder than the Earths and earning them is a challenge.
• Black Hole Badges-These badges are unknown and extremely hard to earn 
• Challenge Patches-These are earned when one finishes all exercises of a certain topic.
